Nanxiao Xuan Cafe, Tamsui, Taipei, Taiwan

I decided to venture out of Taipei and head to an area called Tamsui, specifically I wanted to see what Tamsui Old Street was like.

It takes about 50 minutes on the train from Taipei Main Station on the Tamsui-Xinyi line.

I arrived and had a quick walk around the waterfront and then headed to Tamsui Old Street which is an old fashioned market street that was busy with locals doing their shopping.

As I was walking back to the station area I saw a small little cafe and decided to go in rather than to the nearby Starbucks (yuck!).

Nanxiao Xuan Cafe, Tamsui, New Taipei City, Taiwan

Nanxiao Xuan Cafe was a little cafe just off the square to the north-west of the station. I ordered a coffee and sat outside the front to watch the people go by. It was a very tranquil setting.

They had some food but I didn’t try any as I’d spotted where I wanted to have lunch a little earlier.

The coffee and setting was decent, and if you’re in the area support a local shop rather than a faceless megacorp.
