BeerCat is an interesting place. It’s a small bar that has a decent beer selection, and there are two resident cats who sit near the bar and do what cats do, sleep.

In the morning I jumped on the train to head out to Taipei 101 to visit the observatory there. On the trip east I noticed that we went past the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall so took a mental note to hop off the train on my return trip to visit.
It was around lunchtime when I arrived so headed into the National Theater Hall to see what the food options were and found a small place called Scenery Books & Cafe.

I’ve eaten at the original Tim Ho Wan plus several other of their Hong Kong locations, and I’ve tried their Singapore location as well, so when I saw Tim Ho Wan pop up on my map I thought I’d better head there.

After a quick flight from Seoul to Taipei I was ready to head out for a drink and dinner somewhere close to Taipei Main Station.
Across the road from the station is a shopping mall called Q Square, and along with lots of shops there are a good number of bars and restaurants. A quick look at the map and up the escalators to the fourth floor I was standing outside Le Ble D’Or with its interesting Chinese/German/Italian menu. In I went.

I will start off saying that the Novotel Suites Ambassador Seoul in Yongsan was a very good hotel, but it’s a little out of the the main part of the city and in a bit of a wasteland that is being redeveloped.
You get to the hotel along a long elevated walkway from Yongsan station. It’s a bit of a trek but you get used to it. If you have luggage use the lift to get to ground level.
It was only when I arrived that it dawned on me that there were actually 2 different types of Novotel’s in the same building. There’s the standard Novotel hotel but there’s also a Novotel that’s just suites. Probably positioned at longer term guests. I guess I just didn’t pay attention when I booked and I’d booked a room in the Novotel Suites. There are also two other hotels in the same building, an Ibis Styles, as well as a Grand Mercure.
