For my final couple of days in Tokyo I again decided to stick around Ueno, where there is no shortage of hotels.
Luckily I chose one quite close to the JR Ueno station as when I got of my last shinkansen it felt like I was walking on the surface of the sun!
Hotel Resol Ueno, Tokyo, Japan
Hotel Resol is quite literally across the road from JR Ueno station. Probably a 2 or 3 minute walk if you are slow.
The foyer area is quite nice. Its an open area with a lounge offering free pastries and soups during the day.
Checking in was quite fast and I was off to my room quick smart.
I scored a room at the end of the corridor so it was very quiet.
The room is quite compact, probably a little smaller than the APA Hotel I stayed at at the beginning of my trip, but this room was more modern and better appointed.
There was a double bed that took up much of the area but there was enough room to be able to sit at the small table.
This room had a window that was not opaque which is a vast improvement over the APA hotel.
Bathroom was quite spacious.
Housekeeping is on the “eco” schedule where they only do a full service of the room every 3 days, but you do get new towels and water bottles delivered to your door everyday.
I did spring for a later checkout of 2pm. They do charge ¥1000 per extra hour.
I would stay here again.
