After a quick walk around the Hakodate waterfront and watching a cruise ship dock I headed towards the market area which is a short walk from Hakodate station.
I did a quick walk through the Hakodate Morning Market where there were many varieties of fresh seafood on offer.
At the south-eastern side of the market there is a food court with many food stalls.
Sakae soba/udon, Hakodate, Japan
Not being a fan of fish I scouted around and found Sakae soba/udon tucked away in the corner who served, you guessed it, soba and udon noodles, but they also served chicken katsu curry.
I ordered, paid, and was given a beeper. I found a free table in the busy food court and waited about 10 minutes while my curry was freshly cooked.

I will say that this was a decent curry for ¥980.
If you aren’t a huge fish fan then this stall is a good alternative.
