In the evening I was feeling a little bit peckish and did a quick scout around the area near my hotel but I didn’t find much open, and those that were had a queue, or didn’t interest me. So I expanded my search area and remembered that I’d read about a little food court next to Hakodate station.

I headed over to the Hakoviva Mall and found the food court area which is themed as small shops in a Japanese laneway. I think the food court is called Hakodate Ekimae Yokocho

Sakae soba/udon, Hakodate, Japan

After a quick walk around the Hakodate waterfront and watching a cruise ship dock I headed towards the market area which is a short walk from Hakodate station.

I did a quick walk through the Hakodate Morning Market where there were many varieties of fresh seafood on offer.

At the south-eastern side of the market there is a food court with many food stalls.

Toriyoshi Shoten, Ueno, Tokyo, Japan

It was still blisteringly hot when I dared to venture out in the afternoon to have something to eat.

My target this afternoon was okonomiyaki but that search was for nought, so I ended up at a yakotori restaurant on Ueno, quite close to the JR lines called Toriyoshi Shoten.
