After a day at the Heathcote Food and Wine Festival with a mate we’d loaded the back of the car with many dozens of bottles of wine and proceeded to make our way back to Melbourne, but not before a pitstop at the Tooborac Brewery.

The building is the original built around 1857 and it doesn’t look like its changed since the day that it opened. You can imagine a stagecoach of pioneers pulling up outside for a drink and meal.

But today it was to be a flying visit, just long enough to enjoy a pint of one of the house brews which was a red IPA called the Firemans Red IPA while sitting outside in the sun.

If you are travelling the Northern Highway its well worth dropping in for a meal and a drink if you have the time and want to partake of country hospitality.

Oh, and the Heathcote Food and Wine Festival was pretty good too and we came home with some very good wines.
