With Melbourne in a snap, five day COVID lockdown, I decided to try takeaway from a closeby Japanese restaurant called Tokyo 7.
The restuarant is between A’Beckett and Franklin Streets down a new laneway called Frederick Way. Frederick Way comes out on Franklin Street just opposite the Queen Victoria Market.

As Melbourne was in lockdown it was exceptionally quiet and as I walked past the restaurant just before opening time I wondered whether they’d be opening at all, but a quick chat to one of the staff who was having a smoko out front confirmed they were open for takeaway and in I headed.
For starters I ordered a serving of chicken karaage and a serve of pork gyoka along with a dipping sauce for both.
I’d also ordered a pork tonkatsu curry which is one of my all time Japanese favorites.
While I’d ordered alot I managed to demolosh all the dishes quite quickly as they all tasted great.
The price was also pretty good so I think Tokyo 7 is an all round good place for Japanese food in the CBD.
