With Melbourne out of the third COVID lockdown I decided to head over to Benchwarmer to grab some takeaway craft beers, have a beer and to try their new, Japan inspired menu
It’s good that Benchwarmer survived the 3 COVID shutdowns, and in the warm summer Saturday afternoon they were doing a roaring trade.
The menu has about a dozen small plates and about 10 different types of yakitori.
I went for the healthy options of Karaage, Japanese frid chicken, and Torikawa, fried chicken skin.
The dishes came out freshly cooked in about 10 minutes and I must say they were pretty good. The Karaage was as good as you’d get in any other Japanese restaurant in Melbourne.
And I liked the Torikawa which were like chicken crisps. They tasted great.
The kitchen opens at 5.
