One of the specialities of Sapporo is Genghis Khan which is barbecued lamb so I knew I had to try this while I was in Sapporo.
Yuuhi Ultimate Salt-Aged Genghis Khan, Sapporo, Japan
I found one on the corner near my hotel so decided to head on in and see if I could get a seat. I was Friday evening so my chances were 50/50.
Yuuhi Ultimate Salt-Aged Genghis Khan is on the 1oth floor so if you can get a seat by the window you’re in for some spectacular sunset views.
The place was already quite full when I arrived, and the party of 4 before me got told to wait.
I was asked if I could be out within 45 minutes and I said yes and was shown to a counter seat.
I ordered
- premium salt cured lamb chuck
- lamb outside skirt
- grilled vegetables
- Sapporo classic beer and appetiser
As the dishes came out I popped them on the grill and cooked them to my liking. I was able to cook the meat as I wanted but the vegetables were another story.
I decided that I’m not really a fan of salt cured lamb. While it tasted ok I preferred the non-salted dishes. But you have to try atleast once.
It was a bit of rushed affair, but it was a good feed.
I would suggest that you book ahead if you want to make sure you get in. There was a huge queue waiting when I left!
