My final day in Japan had dawned and I ventured out late morning looking for a late breakfast / early lunch.
I knew there was a food floor above the JR train station at Ueno so I hopped on the escalator on a reconnaissance mission.
There were a good number of places and I chose a tonkatsu restaurant.
Tonkyu Ueno, Tokyo, Japan
Tonkyu had an extensive menu so I had no problem finding a decent meal.
There are many set menu options and the one that took my fancy today was the pork cutlet curry set meal with the black pork upgrade.
Soon a freshly cooked pork loin cutlet with rice and pickles was placed in front of me along with a miso soup, cabbage and golden sesame seeds.
All of the components went together superbly for one of the better tonkatsu meals I think I’ve had.
Of course, I washed the meal down with a Suntory The Premium Malt’s.
I good place for a satisfying meal if you are at Ueno station.
