It was the end of my first full day in Japan and after the Shinkansen trip from Tokyo to Kyoto, and having checked into my hotel, I was looking for my first real Japanese meal.

I jumped on the subway and headed one station east to Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station near the Kamo River.

Ah Meng Restaurant, Singapore Zoo, Singapore

It was a hot and steamy Friday morning in Singapore with warnings of torrential rains late in the afternoon.

I enjoy Singapore Zoo, you don’t have the depressing concrete and wire cages that you see in many zoos around the region.

You can explore the zoo in 4 or 5 hours but be warned that on a hot and humid day you’ll be well worn out by the time you finish.

Dosanko Larmen, Melbourne, Australia

I’d just gotten back from my second Japan trip and was on my way with a mate to hopefully watch Hawthorn continue on their journey for their 4th consecutive AFL premiership.

I’d walked past this particular restaurant many times mid afternoon when it was closed, but this evening it’d be open and we’d be walking up Little Bourke Street on the way to the match at The G.
