After exploring some more of Akasaka in the morning with a visit to the closeby Hie Shrine I headed into the Yona Yona Beer Kitchen that’s situated pretty much right on top of Akasaka-mitsuke subway station.

Yona Yona Beer Kitchen, Akasaka-Mitsuke, Tokyo, Japan
I got in around 11:30am and got a seat at a small table against the front window so I could see the passing walking traffic. It would be great if they had tables on the walkway out the front. They would be a great place to spend a summer’s afternoon.
The beers here are by the Yo-Ho Brewing Company who make the namesake of the restaurant Yona Yona Ale.
The two beers I tried were
- Aooni – a sweet American IPA
- Suiyoubi no Neko – a Belgian style white ale
Both were very good as have been the other beers from this brewery I’ve had in the past.
There’s a good selection of dishes available for lunch and I decided on the Grilled Chicken with Plum Sauce which I think was a special that day as I can’t see it on their website. But it tasted very good and was a good accompaniment for the beers.
Good place for a meal but could be improved if they could make use of the area out the front.
