After a siesta back at my hotel. I checked the reviews for restaurants around Gare de Bordeaux Saint-Jean but nothing took my fancy. Expanding my search area a little I found a restaurant around 400m from my hotel that had some decent reviews called Comptoir Sainte Croix.
It was pretty quiet on a Thursday evening with just two other tables eating and a couple of people having a drink outside.
Comptoir Sainte Croix (Poulhouse), Bordeaux, France
The menu was in French but the chef came out and explained the dishes to me and I chose roast chicken and a glass of local red wine.
My main arrived within about 15 minutes and I have to say that both the chicken and the roast potatoes were out of this world. I think the potatoes were double cooked and they were crunchy on the outside but fluffy on the inside.
The dessert du jour was a chocolate mousse which was also pretty good and a nice way to finish off my meal.
