CHIMAC The Korean Bistro, Melbourne, Australia

I have a soft spot for Korean crispy fried chicken and there is a decent restaurant called CHIMAC up near the Queen Victoria Market on Peel St.

CHIMAC The Korean Bistro, Melbourne, Australia

I’ve been here a couple of times with friends and have never had a bad meal. They’re recently added cook at the table korean BBQ to their repertoire though we haven’t tried that yet.

Tonight we were after some chicken and pork.

For starters we chose the spicy pork quesadilla, and for mains we went chicken – half wonder soy (garlic infused soy) and mad chilli. The mad chilli is simply described as hot, hot, hot, hot, hot and hot (yep, there’s 6 hots on the menu!).

The beer choices here used to be abysmal but thankfully they now have some Fury and Son beers on tap – today we had their Pilsner.

The quesadilla was good, not overly spicy.

The wonder soy chicken was great, I could eat this all day. Excellent flavor and good crispiness.

The mad chilli… they weren’t joking when they said hot, hot, hot, hot, hot and hot. There’s lots of chilli in this dish, but it also has a sweet taste to it. I personally thought it was a little too spicy, a little less chilli and I think it would have been a superb dish.

No doubt I’ll be visiting again.
