In the evening I was feeling a little bit peckish and did a quick scout around the area near my hotel but I didn’t find much open, and those that were had a queue, or didn’t interest me. So I expanded my search area and remembered that I’d read about a little food court next to Hakodate station.
I headed over to the Hakoviva Mall and found the food court area which is themed as small shops in a Japanese laneway. I think the food court is called Hakodate Ekimae Yokocho
Hokkaido Bar Ashitaya, Hakodate, Japan
Hokkaido Bar Ashitaya is an izakaya with a quite extensive traditional izakaya menu.
I ordered a good selection of lamb, chicken and pork grilled skewers along with some green pepper skewers. There was also lots of seafood dishes available if that’s your thing.
Drinkwise they have beer, whiskey, shochu & sake. I just ordered a Sapporo Classic Draft.
Decent, great tasting food.
