Beneath Driver Lane is a funky little bar with a speakeasy vibe in the basement of the building next to Penny Blue on, you guessed it, Driver Lane, off Little Bourke Street opposite the old GPO.

Head down the stairs and you’ll find a largish area with a large bar, many tables, and some nooks for those who want a tiny bit of seclusion.
We came for whisky and, while the selection isn’t as extensive as Boilermaker, there was a decent number of whiskies from around the world to try.
You can order the tipple of your choice, or if you want to broaden your horizons you can order one of the flights that will allow you try 3 whiskies of a similar ilk. We first tried the Japanese Flight and also the World Whisky Flight.
And then we let our bartender recommend what we should try based on our tastes. And there were some very good suggestions including Writers Tears, Kilchoman Machir Bay and Kilchoman Sanaig.
The drinks were, in restrospect, pretty well priced for the quality.
We also ordered the charcuterie selection of 4 meats, pickles & bread which turned out to be rather large and good value for $44.
If you like your whiskies and cocktails this is a great place to visit.
