Novotel Sydney International Airport, Sydney, Australia

It was a big day for me, I was off on my first trip since COVID hit in 2020!

I had decided to head off to Seoul in South Korea and Taipei in Taiwan to investigate 2 new destinations. To get to Seoul I would need to fly out of Sydney rather than Melbourne, so rather than get a 6am flight from Melbourne to Sydney on the morning of my Seoul flight I decided to fly up the afternoon before and stay close to the airport.

There are a couple of hotels close to Sydney Airport but I chose to stay at the Novotel. It’s close to the airport but not much else, so you’ll also be eating at the hotel if you don’t have a car.

There’s a shuttle bus that runs from the domestic terminals and the international terminal to the hotel that costs $10 and takes around 15 minutes. It was pretty handy.

Checkin at the hotel was fairly efficient and I was in my room in no time at all.

The room itself was quite nice. It was large with a comfortable bed and I had no problems getting a decent nights sleep.

As I said before, if you don’t have a car you’ll be beholden to the hotel restaurant and luckily the restaurant, The Marke, was fairly decent at standard hotel prices.

For my evening meal I had a rather substantial Pork Belly. So substantial that I was struggling to finish the dish.

For breakfast Eggs Benedict were the order of the day and didn’t disappoint.

I couldn’t procrastinate after breakfast as I needed to get to the airport for my Seoul flight so, after a quick stop by reception to settle up for dinner and breakfast, I was on my way in the shuttle to the international terminal for my holday to officially start.

All round a decent hotel if you’ve got a morning fllight.
