Don’t you just hate it when…

you end up in a swish hotel in a new city. You don’t know your way around, so you play it safe for a couple of days by eating at your hotel.

Towards the end of the week you have some spare time, as you’ve completed your work early, so you decided to do a little reconnaissance mission around the neighborhood you’ve been staying in, and during that trip you find several local food halls that offer the same quality and quantity of food that you’ve been eating at the hotel, with the major exception that the price is around 10% of what you were paying previously.

Well… welcome to my week in Bangkok!

Thai Spice, Stanhope Village, Sydney, Australia

After room service for a couple of nights we’d decided to head out for a feed. We tried to get into the Outback Steakhouse, but the queue was long, and we were famished so we decided to try a local Thai restaurant instead.

We headed over the Stanhope Village to a small restaurant called Thai Spice.

Korean Seoul Restaurant, Melbourne, Australia again…

I’d been to this restaurant probably 6 weeks or so ago.

We were in the city on Saturday evening, looking for somewhere to get a beer and a meal.

The beer was forthcoming at the Turf Bar (previously The Turf Accountants, site of the Great Bookie Robbery in 1976 during which $1.3 million was stolen, though many think the actual take was much larger than this) in Queen Street.

While drinking, we were tossing up what to eat… steak, ribs, Chinese, but finally decided that Korean food was close by and would be a tasty change.

Curry Vault, Melbourne, Australia again…

Told you I liked this place!

Had a colleague down from Sydney working on a project and we’d decided that a couple of beers were in order followed by a feed. We met at the Mitre Tavern and couldn’t be bothered moving too far, so I pointed up Bank Place to the Curry Vault and the evening’s destiny was set.
