Fancy Hanks, Melbourne, Australia

I’m very much a carnivore so when a friend suggested that we head to Fancy Hanks on Bourke Street for dinner mid mini rooftop pub crawl it didn’t take me too long to say yes.

79 Bourke Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Fancy Hanks is where Tuscan Bar used to be. Head up the stairs and you’ll find the restaurant on level 1.

We headed in at around 7pm on a Wednesday evening to be told there was a wait of around 15 minutes – no problemo time for another beer.

The menu is very much a BBQ meat eaters wet dream.

For about an hour and a half we were treated to some excellent BBQed meat comprising

  • Rangers Valley Brisket
  • Baby Back Prok Ribs
  • Chilli Burnt Ends

and some BBQ fries and a token serving of coleslaw.

All of the meat dishes were superbly cooked and tasted great and while not overly cheap were certainly worth the price.

Fancy Hanks also has an OK wine selection, and we went with the Lobethal Road Tempranillo from the Adelaide Hills.
