The Veranda at Kobe, Kobe, Japan

After arriving in Kobe a little earlier I wanted to head out to look around the hotel. A very short walk away is the bottom station of the Nunobiki Herb Garden Ropeway.

I took the cable car upto the top station and was able to get some great views of Kobe from on high.

As you walk down towards the second cable car station to take you back to ground level you’ll come across a large building that’s essentially a greenhouse nursery but also contains a couple of cafes.

On the lower level is an open area called the Terrace with outside seating where you can have a couple of drinks while you snack. Inside upstairs is a little more formal in the Lounge where there’s indoor seating and proper tables and chairs.

I went upstairs and, as it was mid afternoon by this stage, got a table by the windows overlooking the terrace and Kobe.

The strength of the Lounge is defintely the sweets with a variety of cakes on the menu, however I was disappointed that the non-sweet options were limited to 2 dishes.

As I was hungry I decided to stay and ordered the Club Sandwich. It was good and I liked the different way they did their french fries.

To drink I ordered the only beer on the menu which was an Italian Marechiaro. It was a decent beer, but I wonder why they wouldn’t have offered a Japanese beer.

From here it’s just a short walk to the middle ropeway station to jump on the cable car back down to ground level.
